Which chapter in World History did you enjoy most this year and why?
A chapter that I enjoyed most this year was chapter twelve. The name of this chapter was The Asian Empire. I enjoyed this chapter because I was interested in the information it told me about and it told me about all of the Chinese dynasties.
Describe some of the things that you learned in that chapter. Is there a project that you completed that you enjoyed working on?
I learned many new things while reading this chapter. I learned about Asia, the Chinese dynasties, the Khmer Kingdom, and the time period when Japan was in isolation. The Taj Mahal is in a place called Agra, India, which is located in Asia. Asia is also the largest continent on earth. The Chinese dynasties were called the Sui, Tang, and Song Dynasties. The Khmer Kingdom was one of the wealthiest kingdoms in Southeast Asia, and Khmer was also the name of people who lived in the kingdom. The project that I did on this chapter was a power-point and a time line. I did my time line on a program called time liner and for my power-point I memorized the information and presented it in front of the whole class. I also had a partner for this project and my partner was Sam. My project was on lesson 3. It told be all of the information about the Khmer Kingdom. For example, it told me about the location, and gave me many dates, and cause and effects during this time period.
What new skills have you learned throughout the year?
I have learned many new skills throughout my year of being a sixth grader. I learned test taking skills, computer skills, and many more. Mr. Cupples has been a great teacher, even when I was in fifth grade too. He has taught me very well and I have learned a lot of new things from him. Now I know that when I move up to the middle school I will know much more than I knew before. I can also remember information easier, which usually gets my grades up on my tests. I know a lot of extra information about computers and technology now, which will help me in seventh and eighth grade because I know that you do a lot of projects on computers.
How can you apply this knowledge to the real world?
I can apply this knowledge to the real world if I ever go on vacation in Asia. I will know all of the information I would need if I traveled to this area. I wouldn’t know how to speak their language but at least I will know what the things are that I am looking at. I will also know what their country has been through.
Here is a webquest project that I did this year....
A- What were the 4 parts of a manor? The four parts of a manor was the church, the castle, the village, and farmland. B- Why did the king offer nobles land? The king offered nobles land because nobles contributed to the army as soldiers for the king. C- What was the lowest class of people on a manor? The lowest class of people on a manor was the peasants. D- What was the main religion of the Middle Ages? The main religion of the Middle Ages was Catholic. E- How did the Church get involved with government? The church got involved with government because the population of Europe expanded, and the churches that were built were too small so they had to build larger ones.
F-This page lists some of the defenses built into a castle. Scroll through thebold words- these are the different defenses. Choose 3 to write and describe how they were used to defend the castle against attack. (Don’t just pick the first 3- get a variety!)

Battlements, that provided a walk on the wall summit, a fighting platform, and a defense. A draw bridge was used to make it harder for enemies to enter a castle. G- Describe 4 forms of entertainment in or around the castle. Four forms of entertainment in or around the castle are juggling, singing, musicians, and acrobats. H- What events occurred at tournaments? Nobles could eat capons, geese, larks, and chickens with their families. L- Describe the diet of the peasant (serf) class? Peasants usually just ate wheat and bread, and got protein from peas and beans. M- Compare these two diets. Why do you think the serfs would have loved to visit the manor house or castle? Nobles got to eat fowl foods such as chicken, larks, geese, and capons with their families, but peasants ate simpler foods such as wheat and bread. I think that serfs would have loved to visit the manor house or castle because they get healthier foods.
